You know, you just have to hand it to the good people over at the Starlite Theater here in Branson, Missouri. Not only are they presenting real Rock and Roll in their 880-seat venue, but they are doing it with one of the original inductees to the Rock and Roll Music Hall of Fame, BILL MEDLEY of The Righteous Brothers.
Back in 2003, when Bobby Hatfield passed away, there were many who feared that the talented BILL MEDLEY would retire from show business. Throughout his successful career he often explored other sounds, solo recordings and individual bookings but it is that magical ability that allowed two singers to become one, single voice that will make songs like “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin,’” “Unchained Melody,” and “You’re My Soul And Inspiration” live forever in the hearts of music lovers all over the world. The’ blue- eyed soul’ that Bill and Bobby created paved the way for so many other cross-over artists. There wouldn’t have been a Hall & Oats without The Righteous Brothers.
In 1987, Bill joined Jennifer Warens on the soundtrack for a low-budget dance movie choreographed by Kenny Ortega. Before the movie was released, Ortega was quoted as saying, “the dance moves would be hot, but the movie’s song, (“I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” would be a huge.” Boy was he right! The film, ‘Dirty Dancing,’ cost 6 million to make and went on to gross 214 million dollars! And BILL MEDLEY’S song won a Grammy, Oscar and Golden Globe and would be named by the American Film Institute in the Top 100 movie songs of all time. WOW! That alone would make any other career, but BILL MEDLEY has just kept on creating, moving forward and these days is singing better than ever, his heart-felt ballads full of blue-eyed soul.
These nights it’s a family affair as his daughter McKenna regularly joins Mr. Medley on the Starlite stage. BRANSON REVIEWED salutes BILL MEDLEY and is proud to call his show one of our coveted “DON’T-MISS” recommended productions, adding: You’ll never close your eyes, not for one magical, musical moment.
The night BRANSON REVIEWED came by for a second look we were again overpowered by the star power. BILL MEDLEY has helped provide the soundtrack for the times of our lives, and we love him for it.
